Royal Treatment

Providence Road Church of Christ is rolling out the red carpet for the hundreds of volunteers who share Jesus with our children and teenagers. We believe Kings Kids and YouthQuest deserve to have teachers, coaches and mentors fit for a King! So, we're going to provide you with the Royal Treatment.

Facts:
Since September 2004, all volunteers who work with persons under the age of 19 have participated in an interview process similar to that of a school teacher, YMCA employee, or Girl Scout Troop Leader. Yes, this includes applications, interviews, background screening and reference checks. Training is also required to keep everyone up to date on issues like child abuse and safety concerns in Charlotte and the country. Our goal thus far has been met with over 200 volunteers completing the process and are working with our children in His service!

What is "The Royal Treatment"?
It is a process of screening and training workers to ensure that everyone in the spiritual war for our children and teens is fully qualified and equipped for battle.

Who has to go through The Royal Treatment?
All volunteers who work with persons under the age of 19.

What do I have to do if I am a King's Kids volunteer?
Obtain and review a copy of the Providence Road Risk Management Manual. Fill out 3 forms at the back of this manual and attend a Training Session. Once these things have been done, someone from the Royal Treatment Screening Team will arrange an interview. After the interview, your name will be submitted for a background check.

What will be covered in the background check?
-Your social security number will be checked
-Your name will be checked to see if it appears on the National Sex Offenders Registry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are we doing this?
LOVE, HONOR & PROTECTION for the most precious assets at PR-our children. We want the world to know we take our job very seriously. Jesus said, "Your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost." -Matthew 18:14

Is this unusual for a church?
Actually, it is not. Most of the medium to large churches in Charlotte already have well-established programs like this in place.

How will you protect my privacy?
Our goal is to keep private things private. Confidentiality and respect will be keys to making the Royal Treatment process successful. (Background screening will be performed by a third party firm and only one of our elders will receive the results.)

Is the Information on the Application Confidential?
Yes! All forms should be turned in to the drop slot in the lobby at the Information Center. All forms are being kept in a locked file cabinet at an elder's home. The only people who will see the forms is the Royal Treatment Screening Team, and they have all signed a confidentiality form.
